Dupevitsa Peak is the highest point of Lyulin Mountain, located west of Sofia. With its 1256 meters above sea level, it is a preferred spot for short mountain hikes and nature walks. The most popular route starts from the Bonsovi Polyani hut, from where the peak can be reached in about an hour's walk along well-marked tourist trails. The peak offers impressive panoramic views of the Sofia Field, Vitosha, Rila, Osogovo, Verila, the Ruy mountain range, and Stara Planina. The area is suitable for photography, picnics, and peaceful walks throughout all seasons. According to one of the most common versions, the name 'Dupevitsa' originates from the old word 'dopeevitsa', meaning a place where one admires the view so much that they feel like singing. Until the early 1990s, the area around the peak had restricted access due to military facilities, but today it is freely accessible and is one of the most visited natural landmarks near Sofia.
